There are over 1000 different ways people will tell you how to deal with rust. As painters we follow the guidelines of our favourite suppliers. Why deal with rust when you can remove it? CPL uses high pressure sandblasting with a small amount of Garnett and a lot of vapour. There is minimum dust to clean up afterwards and we can remove rust 100% then treat the steel with premium coatings to prevent it coming back.

During the Covid lockdown of 2020 many large retail stores and services were closed to the public. This gave the owners an opportunity to do some much needed maintenance and freshening up. CPL had quoted painting work at Dressmart for years but the constraints of shopping hours made it difficult to find a window to carry out the work. With the shops empty and the streets cleared, CPL had the “run of the mill” to complete the project. CPL washed, prepared and painted the entire exterior of the Dressmart Onehunga during the lockdown. CPL utilised a number of different elevating work platforms (EWPs) machines to complete all the height work. Dressmart Onehunga now looks smart!

After a structural upgrade, the shopping centre exterior needed a visual update. CPL worked with the property manager to treat rust, fill cracks, polish steel and apply a 2 pack coating to high wear areas. This approach minimises the need for ongoing maintenance while maximising the performance of the paint.

CPL was asked to paint Huia House, which was the old hospital-turned-university lodgings. A full Interior and exterior repaint of this 11-story building on Grafton Rd. 440-bedroom doors, corridors, stairwells, common areas and amenities. In 2022 CPL was asked to paint the level 3 and ground level soffits. After many years of water ingress problems, the soffit had copped it the worst. We scraped, sanded, filled, primed and painted the existing soffits hoping to save them. Only time will tell now. In the future some sheets will need replacing but until then, it looks great.
